the review of literature, completed.
Today was a blur. I expected to be more tired than I was, after staying up as late as I did. I got a few things done at work, but mostly I hammered out the extra two pages and change to get my review of literature to its proper length. My father and Dain were kind enough to give it the once-over and point out any obvious flaws in the language, for which I owe them one. I mailed it in, and that was that.
I'm a bit nervous about how well this is going to go for me; there are all sorts of formal strictures I completely ignored. For instance, I was supposed to write up an explanation of how I wrote the paper; this wasn't actually in the assignment, but was part of a previous year's assignment which had been included for I don't know what reason on the website. I ended up dashing off a page or two later on; I am now, as far as I know, finished with that assignment.
On the other hand, I got nearly-full credit for my annotated bibliography last semester, and I accidentally duplicated annotations for more than one source--that is, the same paragraph appeared under several sources, each of which I was supposed to write one paragraph for. I didn't notice this until I was editing my .bib file to add some more sources; if I'd known at the time, I'm not sure what I would have done. I don't know how this makes me feel about the program's rigor.
Of the things I was going to do before Caitlin and her entourage showed up, I managed to do all of them except get any sleep. I also didn't get Caitlin a present, though it's her birthday on Saturday. Darnit. Perhaps the manufacture of vegan pancakes will count. They're surprisingly animated for people who've been driving since Washington, DC. The entourage consists of a Kristy and a Zack, who I'll get to meet in a more in-depth fashion tomorrow.
