in which i am useless at work.
At work, I was useless. Steve started out belittling my habit of eating lunch from cans. (Evidently I need to transfer the contents of these cans to other containers for my lunch habits to meet with his approval. Fat chance.) He moved on, later in the day, to making me the target of his burning derision because I couldn't immediately answer questions about a part of the system that I wasn't working on. What was he expecting?
I was draggy on the way back from work, and I felt bad about that, too. (Carin was quite understanding, even though I nearly made her late for a biology test because I was stuck on a conference call.) It's not like I even got yelled at; is my ego so fragile that I'll spend the whole evening sitting down and acting tired because a customer was gruff with me? Bah. I bet a good portion of it is the job-security shakes I get whenever it's remarked that I'm not doing a good job.
I attempted blueberry pancakes this evening. I think I measured the flour wrong (I poured instead of scooped), so we got four pancakes instead of the usual six that are in one batch. I tossed some frozen blueberries into the batter, but the pancakes ended up being much thinner than the berries, so they became a bit of a sticky mess. Perhaps it's worth trying again with correctly-made pancake batter.
