Aside from taking a stool sample and not going to jujutsu today, the main---the only---big event of the day was that damned Topology exam. The one which the doctor surmised may have been responsible for my malfunctioning guts. Which, surprisingly, I didn't bomb.
The exam consisted of two-from-four questions, then four-from-nine. I got five of them down; they were proofs I'd either seen before or were relatively easy to understand from what we knew. Unfortunately, I ran out of cluefulness on the last problem, and just threw together a proof that has a gaping hole in it. (I assume that the infinite union of closed sets is also closed; this is obviously false.)
The professor left at forty-five minutes past the scheduled end time. He told us to drop the (closed-book, closed-notes) exams in his mailbox. And even though I knew the proof I needed was in my notes and in the book, and it would have been trivial to copy it out... the idea seemed repugnant, above and beyond the fact that it would have been cheating. I earned every damned point I scored on that exam.
Katie came over for help on her Physics exam that she'll be taking tomorrow. It's the same class I helped Chris with, back in the day. Both of them were pretty terrible at it; I went over all the papers and such she had for about three hours, but I don't know if she'll do all right. Hopefully I helped. I helped either sitting still at the table, or lying flat on the couch.
Very tired now. Doctor's appointment tomorrow. |
