| | humm. whirr. click. | ] | I slept in this morning. Way, way in. Missed lunch. It was a gluttonous orgy of sleep. And then I went to class.
Oh look, Chris and Katie stopped by and brought me Frank, who I'm slowly eating. Sweet, sweet high-fructose Frank.
I should start on my work. If only I could call up my "panic" motivation at an arbitrary distance from the due-date. As it stands, I'll start everything at midnight on Wednesday. |

Not that I would have gotten any work done anyway.
But damn it, I thought, when I took this tutoring job, that it would be a good way to help my fellow programmers. And I like helping out people who are puzzling over something I myself spent pointless hours on, and nudging them towards enlightenment. It's part of the process of becoming a good coder. I'm glad to help.
On the other hand, there are people who either
- Suffer from severe brain damage, or
- NEVER FUCKING PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS.
For someone to be taking second-semester programming and clearly have absolutely no grasp of basic syntax or certain things like variable-naming (hint: naming your variables after characters from "The Matrix" is not a good coding practice) or the basic concepts of types and functions ("No, you actually have to write the code. The comments don't work like that.") is just plain fucking wrong! This is like English majors writing sentences like "me dag flees haz".
And naming yourself "GIJoWitKunFuGrip" does not make you cool!
I'm here to help people who want to learn, not do their fucking work for them! I have no problem with anyone who displays an honest interest, and may be having difficulty. I have no patience with anyone who has clearly never so much as used the manual as a bloody paperweight, and who clearly should never have graduated from grade school!
<MADGENIUS>Why?! Why must I suffer these fools!</MADGENIUS>
Hmm. I feel a tiny bit better now. I should do this again some time. Soon, I reckon. |
