There's a thread that's been started here in Lee's journal.
The important stuff has been/will be said there.
I sent in my proposal for the term project. Looks hopeful---the grad student seemed interested. That's good.
Talked to this girl named Stacy who used to bake cookies for everyone in the building every Thursday. She talked a lot about herself, I talked a bit about myself. Nothing deep, meaningful or special. But I had company for lunch. That was good.
I am, however, worried about Lee. She's gone back into "super-morbid" mode, a la last December.
You know, I never used to be able to identify with those guys who castrated themselves.
Time to go to jujutsu and ask sensei about the arm. I suppose I'll run stairs at MSB if all else fails.
*sigh*. Feeling rather "blah" now. Like drained, but without any real reason to be. I suppose I'll know more when I get back from wherever and see how Lee is feeling.

| not a torn rotator cuff |

| | worried | ] | Okay, sensei passed his verdict on the shoulder. He says I strained my triceps, not the rotator cuff. Hence, I trained this evening. I think tonight was a "sick" night. Hopefully this'll be gone tomorrow---I was a little runny-nosed yesterday, and today was a sore throat-runny nose-achy joints day. Tomorrow should be a repeat of yesterday, right? Right? The disease declines as it appeared? *hopes*
Sensei told me that the closed guard is essentially useless. Since this is my primary ground-fighting tactic, this came as somewhat of a surprise. The closed guard provides position and control---the two things needed before submission. He says it opens up the body for striking and precludes any sweeps, and is thus useful only as a stalling tactic. And this after I've developed a uniquely powerful and tight closed guard.
Well, it's unique to me.
The shoulder didn't get aggravated, I don't think. I took some falls on it, but didn't extend it anywhere that was sore. I caught a classmate with a surprisingly potent kidney punch during distance-fighting that was supposed to be a light tap. Luckily sensei didn't come over and demand his thirty squat jumps.
It still feels like the problem is joint-y, but he says it's muscle-y, so...
And what of the really important stuff? You know, the local eight hundred pound pink gorilla?
As far as I can tell, Lee is running errands and hasn't said anything to me. I'd like to know where I stand with her. And so, I'm feeling a bit worried. |
